Thought for the day.

It's Garbage Day

56 degrees; no precipitation at 6:30 a.m.

The forecast from YNN: "There will be a feel of summer tomorrow with most of the day featuring mostly sunny skies. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s. A cold front will push in late with scattered showers and thunderstorms by evening. Some of the storms could be on the stronger side. High pressure will build in Tuesday with clouds and some sun. Temperatures will be much cooler with daytime highs back down in the low to mid 50s. After a quiet and seasonable day Wednesday, another system will push in later Thursday."

IN THE NEWS

From the O-D: "A Tale of Two Annes."

From WKTV: "Community Members Plant Trees in Waterville."

I went for a ride, yesterday afternoon, intent on finding the location of The Montgomery Experience on Donley Road and had the good fortune to find Mark - who learned all about planting things when he was a boy - and his wife, Lisa, picking up after Saturday's great tree planting event. I had a fine chat with them and came home with the Montgomery Experience business card and their web site to share with you!

Sunday afternoon was sort-of sprinkly - just enough to keep the dust down, but not enough to discourage a foursome who were golfing in Sangerfield.

After finding the Montgomerys, I followed Donley Road into Mapledale and then Bridgewater. Having gone that far, I thought I'd continue eastward and find the "grapevine zoo," southeast of Winfield, that I've heard so much about.

It's a fairly long ride, but well worth it.

The life-size creatures are made of grapevines and willows is the work of a local artist who wished to remain anonymous.

“Growing up, my family would always go on rides to see something, which became my inspiration in making the elephant,” she wrote in an e-mail after being contacted by the Observer-Dispatch in 2009. "I made the ‘something’ that everyone comes to see.”

FOR THE RECORD

Snowbirds are returning.

"Welcome Home" to the Hugheses, Barths, Samboras and Kelleys.
One couple, still in Texas, sent me this picture of Texas Bluebonnets a few days ago: a sight like that would keep me there, too!

************

Hank Gardner sent me a link to a video which, although it has nothing what-so-ever to do with Waterville, I enjoyed a great deal. Perhaps you will, too.

Have a great day everyone!

More when it happens.
