It's Garbage Day

30 frosty degrees and clear at 6:18

WKTV's Weather Forecast:   "Not much of a break in the weather here in Central New York today.  We'll get some sunshine early today before clouds and rain arrive this afternoon.  Highs in the upper 50s.

Another round of cool weather drops in overnight.  Rain and snow showers with overnight lows in the mid 30s.

Clouds and a cold wind are expected for Friday with a few sprinkles or flurries possible.  Gradual improvement in the weather should start this weekend.  Sunshine both weekend days with highs near 50.

A significant warmup in the forecast for early next week.  Temperatures will climb into the 60s on Monday and Tuesday.

The National Weather Service is hosting a Skywarn Training Class tonight at 6:30pm at the Oriskany Airport.  It's free and open to the public.  Registration is required by sending an email to  bgm.skywarn@noaa.gov or calling 607-729-1597 EXT 4."

HERE AND THERE

There are two pretty, new flags on East Main Street.......

.......... but the wind was determined to keep me from taking proper pictures of them.

Wind Chimes and more Wind Chimes on White Street:
and the wind was just what they wanted!

This is only a small portion of the border  - filled with tulips, hyacinths and ground phlox - in front of the Timlake-Tilbe residence.

This was just a tiny shrub when it was planted next to Grace Church in memory of John Zweifel, a long-time sexton at the church.

Springtime view in the Park. The flowering Crab Apple Tree was planted by members of the Tower Foundation in memory of Mildred "Billie" Woodman.

The following is excerpted from "In Timely Manner," a column published in the Waterville Times.

On May 17, 2006  -  "Flowering crabapple and redbud trees are putting on fine displays......."

Yes - everything IS early this year, and even more so in Deansboro and Clinton because, as anyone who has ever ridden their bicycle uphill all the way from Deansboro can tell you,  Waterville's elevation is noticeably higher - and the air that much colder -  than either of those communities.

You can see for yourself, without having to get your bike out, by going to TopoQuest:

Waterville - 1,237 ft. above sea level.
Deansboro - 795'
Clinton - 600'

May is getting to be just as busy as December.
It's time for me to give you next month's calendars, isn't it?

That will happen later today or tomorrow!

Have a good weekend, everyone!
