Spring Break

******************

It's Garbage Day

37 degrees at 6:00 a.m.

WKTV's Weather Forecast: "Big changes in our weather pattern starting (Monday). An area of low pressure cutting off from the jet stream will drive our weather for the majority of the week. This storm system will bring clouds, rain showers, snow showers, wind, and below average temperatures.

For today, mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers. Windy, with sustained winds form the west 15-25mph and gusts over 40mph. Highs in the upper 40s.

Continued cooler weather by Tuesday and Wednesday, with numerous afternoon showers, clouds, and even an occasional snow shower. Highs in the 40s.

Improving weather starting Thursday, with just the chance for a rain shower with partly sunny skies. Highs near 50. Partly sunny on Friday, with highs in the upper 50s.

Here & There

There's something new at the old Allen Acres Vegetable stand south of the village!

Operated by Lucille Latreille and Kathy Schiller, "Fresh Picked" will be open
Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 9:30 - 4:30
and some evenings.

Antiques, collectibles, memories and smiles!

*****************

I always visit Root Glen early on Easter Sunday morning ........

............ and I nearly always find patches of little white windflowers ...

........... and pink and purple Hellebore, already in bloom.

**************

Although Baked Ham may be the traditional Easter Dinner, nowadays, old-timers tell of having Catfish and Cowslip Greens as a special Easter treat.

Cowslip Greens are plentiful, now, in wet ditches and fields. They're best when gathered before the bright yellow blossoms open.

As to Catfish - I'm not sure where you'd go to catch them, but perhaps Chittening Pond has a goodly supply.

I'd hoped to find a fisherman there, to ask, but only found an empty parking lot at the newly revamped handicapped fishing site.

I HAVE A MYSTERY! Can you help solve it?

When I came home after a woodsing trek with friends, yesterday afternoon, I found a lovely loaf of fresh-baked bread waiting for me on my back porch. I have NO idea who brought it: do you??

Thank You, whoever you are!!

More when it happens. Have a good week, everyone.
