Monday evening for Tuesday

It's BIG TRASH Day

and ELECTION DAY, too.

It's 33 degrees, cloudy and dark
at 5:30 p.m. Monday evening.

The YNN Weather Forecast:  "Overall, Tuesday is shaping up to be rather pleasant with sun, a few clouds and drier weather. Temperatures will still be on the chilly side though with highs in the low 40s.

We’ll be able to get through the daylight hours of Wednesday dry with highs in the mid 40s; however, a storm system working up the east coast (technically a Nor’easter) will provide a bit of a wintry mix Wednesday night/Thursday especially along and east of the I-81 corridor. Luckily, no significant impacts are expected at this time.

Temperatures through the end of the week look to top out in the 40s but a warm up is forecast to take place this weekend with highs in the 50s to near 60 degrees!"

I'm posting this on Monday evening because I'll be going out to vote very early tomorrow morning, then to breakfast.  I'll try to take some photos somewhere along the way.

IN THE MAIL

Jody Hildreth took his camera to a rehearsal of the WCS Drama Club production of "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" and sent these pictures to me for the blog.

Looks like fun!    Thanks, Jody!

And Kudos to WCS Junior Ariel Ricchio, the artist who drew the poster illustration!

I've talked with several people who have had "close calls" with deer crossing roads at dusk and after dark.

There seem to be deer everywhere, but - apparently - that was not always the case.  In 1924 the sighting of just one wild deer was cause for a special article in The Waterville Times:

From the Waterville times, June 13, 1924

“Wild Deer is seen on Patrick farm at Brothertown

A  Wild deer has been seen at Brothertown last Friday evening at about 7 o’clock after the shower.  George Patrick saw a good-sized doe near the line fence of his pasture. It was not more than 15 or 20 rods away and was in plain view. Mr. Patrick and his wife, son, daughter and hired man all saw the animal and went to the back door of the house where they stood watching it. Either the barking of some dogs which were heard over the hills or running through King’s pasture  (scared it) into the woods and it disappeared over King’s Hill. Wallace Hewitt, a neighbor, also reported he had found deer’s tracks in his cornfield.

Drive carefully, and

Have a good day!
