Green Waste Collection Today

(Dumpable containers or bundles, please.)

It's 29 degrees and dry at 5:45 a.m.

The YNN Weather Forecast: "We’ll see some sun and clouds on Tuesday and temperatures will be relatively mild with highs in the low 50s.

Skies clear out on Wednesday and once again temperatures will be slightly above average with highs in the low 50s. Thanksgiving Day is shaping up to be a beautiful one with highs in the low to mid 50s under mostly sunny skies.

A cold front approaching from the west is forecast to bring a few showers Friday afternoon which will likely mix with some snow heading into the weekend. Highs this weekend only look to be near 40 degrees."

Elsewhere

A few days ago I saw this monster combine in one of Mary Green's fields out in Hanover.
I think this is Mary taking a picture of the driver.

By yesterday afternoon nearly all of the soy had been harvested, leaving fields bare.

The countryside has taken on it's early-winter, subdued look. Except for fields of new, green Winter Wheat, just about everything is either brown or gray except for tiny bits of color remaining in hedgerows.

Barberries, at the foot of Grant Hill.

Multiflora ("barbed wire") rose hips on Burnham Road.

Viburnam trilobum.......

or "high bush cranberries," next to Gridley-Paige Road.

Yes, these berries CAN be used in jams, jellies and even wine, but you'd have to find a lot more than I saw yesterday!  Here's one recipe.
