It's Recyclables Day

59 degrees, dark but dry at 6:30

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "A push of mild air will be accompanied by tons of clouds again today.  Fog and drizzle this morning will slowly give way to cloudy skies this afternoon.  Some breaks of sunshine are possible later in the day.  Highs in the low 70s.
More clouds and a brief shower possible tomorrow as a weak disturbance approaches from the south.  Partly sunny on Friday.  Highs both Thursday and Friday above 70.
A strong cold front will arrive as we approach the weekend, knocking down temperatures into the 50s for Saturday and Sunday."

IN THE MAIL

This interesting and informative note from Linda Rauscher:
"I read your article about mushrooms and the attachment and decided I should share this information with you since I am a member of the Mid York Mycological Society (Utica/Rome, NY area)  (Several other Watervillians are as well - Lou Langone (the author) and Dave Wicks.) We meet on the second Monday each month, April-November at 7 p.m. in DePerno Hall at Utica College.  Forays are scheduled regularly (and are lots of fun!) to search for mushrooms and work on identification.  Anyone interested in joining the club (or just attending a meeting) or looking for information about mushrooms, should contact the club President, Peter Molesky at Pcmolesky@yahoo.com or 339-3515."   (Thanks for that, Linda!)

A bit about the History of Hanover excerpted from a writing by Priest Ingersoll. (date unknown.)

"A Pioneer Society."

"As soon as these resolute pioneers had provided themselves with places of shelter, they set up their altars at which they worshipped. The Hanover Society - Congregational - was organized in 1797. Those who established it were of old Puritan stock and took the name "Hanover" from the Dutch state to which some of their (English) ancestors had fled."

"The History of the Hanover Society" by Ada Marie Peck is available at the Waterville Public Library;  at Amazon.com, and at the Berry Hill Bookstore on Route 12B OR online at THIS LINK.  (And if the link doesn't work for you, write to me and I'll send you a different one.)
