IN THE MAIL

"Rusty" sent these great bird photographs to me with the too-short note that read:  "My wife and I went 'up the river' recently and came back with several interesting bird photos."
(But he didn't say WHAT river .... until I asked!)

It was the San Pedro River, in Arizona.

Photographer Jody Hildreth and his family have just returned from a special vacation that included one week in Barcelona, Spain and a cruise to France and Italy.  It's no surprise that he took hundreds - if not thousands - of photographs.

I appreciate Jody's permission to share his pictures with you!
He is posting them on both his Facebook page and also his new website, Photoperch, where you can look at many, many more of them at your own leisure.

"When in Barcelona you are sure to see the strong influence artist Antoni Gaudi left.  Our first in depth look at his work was at this house, Casa Milà."

"The star attraction of the house is the roof. (Designed so that each apartment receives natural light.) Gaudi, who didn’t use straight lines but instead was influenced strongly by the natural world, didn’t just create your typical chimneys.

"Instead, his exhausts were created to look like a blend of aliens and ancient Greek soldiers."

Re: the SPAM that was sent from "Huddleblogger," I've taken the advice of experts and changed the password and have NOT stored it in my computer.  That's all I can do!

I had a very special experience, yesterday - one that I had been waiting for for a very long time. After a lifetime of biking and hiking, swimming and paddling, my back/spine had gradually become more and more painful and has even made it difficult for me to walk any distance in comfort.  Yesterday, I had my first Epidural Steroid Injection administered by Nameer M. Heider, MD, at the Spinal and Skeletal Pain Medicine center in Utica.  Although I was at the center for a couple of hours,  the actual procedure took barely five minutes - certainly no more than ten - and I felt almost no pain at all.

While I was having a definitely good experience, others whom we know were having  a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day" that will, no doubt, have repercussions throughout the community:

from the Observer-Dispatch.

from WKTV.

 See you on Monday!
