****************************

It's "Big Trash" Day.

57 degrees and sunny at 6:15.

The Weather Forecast from WKTV:  "Warm, summery & more humid air will begin to arrive starting today.  Sunshine gives way to some clouds through the course of the day with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.  The humidity stays in check today, but that chances tonight.

A new disturbance will approach and move through the region tonight with storms and showers likely.  A few storms may be leftover for the Fourth of July on Wednesday, but it should not be a rain-out.  Temperatures are slated to soar to near 90 on Wednesday afternoon.

A short break in the humidity on Thursday, with sunshine and highs in the mid 80s. Summery temperatures with hazy, hot, & humid weather returns on Friday and Saturday. It looks like the next risk of storms & showers is Saturday.

Boilermaker Sunday features a warm start, but a less humid finish.  No rain is expected."

IN THE MAIL

My thanks to Pastor Mark Mincy of the Waterville Baptist Church who sent me more information about the special Fourth of July program scheduled for 6:30 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday) evening in the Park.

"There will be several musical numbers (such as 'America, the Beautiful' and 'God Bless America') presented by our choir and a soloist.  Depending on how many folks are in attendance, we might try to include the audience in singing a couple songs.  Along with the music we will have 3 or 4 times of prayer where we pray specifically for our community, country, and service men and women."

Yesterday

My travels took me northward towards Westmoreland and I came back via Skyline Drive.

View of "East Hill" with Shanley Road on the right.

The Buell Farm's fields of oats and corn next to Green Vedder Road.

Best treats of the day:

"Butterfly Weed"

I had never seen the yellow variety, before.
There was just one single plant, but it made my day!

FARMERS MARKET

I don't know whether or not the vendors will be in the Park tomorrow, but  - if they are - don't miss the chance to enjoy some of Sue Tice's baked goods! Last week I added her Lemon Bars and Brownie S'mores to my list of favorites!  I also bought two ears of Longview Farms Maryland Sweet Corn and wished I'd bought more!

Try:  ".... out of the past come the thrilling days of yesteryear;
true stories and tall tales of
'Once Upon a Time in Waterville' ... "
told to you by folks who remember what life was like,
here in the village,
back in the Good Old Days.

Young visitors (below the age of seventy) are always welcome.
