It's 66 degrees at 5:30

Today is Green Waste Day

The Weather Forecast from WKTV:  "Hazy, hot, and humid (Tuesday), with highs near 90°.  A cold front arriving in the afternoon will bring a round of showers and thunderstorms.

Drier weather returns mid week, with lower levels of humidity.  Seasonably warm, with highs in the low 80s through the end of the week."

After nearly two weeks with temperatures in the 90s and without a drop of rain, the little pond at the foot of Grant Hill was drying up ...

and the leaves on corn were curled, they were so thirsty.

But then, on Sunday morning, a wonderful thing happened: it began to rain!  It didn't rain for very long and it wasn't really as much as we needed, but...........

..................  by yesterday the corn looked much better,

.... some on West Hill has tasseled ...

...... and the"girls" in a pasture next to Sally Road were especially friendly!

On a hillside in Augusta, shocks of grain were drying in yesterday's sunshine.

IN THE MAIL

"Bravo!" to Eddie Brennan!

From Sheri Brennan: "Eddie Brennan, Waterville student, recently attended Crane School of Music Summer Camp in Potsdam for the second year in a row.  Eddie received 2nd chair for flute in Wind Ensemble and was one of 2 flutists selected for Symphonic Orchestra.  Over 340 students attended Crane this year, and Eddie auditioned and was chosen to play the solo for the final All Camp Choir.  So nice to have a student from Waterville "up front".

Sheri attached this picture of Eddie playing his solo, adding that "the picture does not do the scene justice (only 1/3 of the Camp Choir would fit in the photo)."
