IN THE MAIL

This great bird's-eye view of Waterville was taken on Sunday afternoon by Library Director Jeff Reynolds. (Thanks, Jeff!)

By today, all the snow that has fallen during the week had either melted or blown away.

The only snow remaining at these homes on Route 12 South of the village was that which had been plowed into week-old snowbanks.

A "Tree Hugger?"

No - I don't think so!

This raccoon was staggering around and around the base of a maple tree in front of a home just a bit South of the Dugway on Austin Road. The critter would manage to get this far up the tree, but then fall backwards and try to stand up all over again. I'm quite sure that it might - or must - have been rabid. I did try to find someone in the rear of the house to alert them, but it appeared that no one was at home. Who should one telephone, in a situation like this?

LOOKING AHEAD

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "Snow breaks out (Thursday) evening, with some accumulations overnight. A burst of locally heavy snow is possible near midnight as a cold front moves through.
Colder, but dry Friday, before the next system slides south on Saturday, bringing another possible light snowfall.
Temperatures climb into the 30s Sunday with sunshine. Unsettled early next week, with above normal temperatures."
