Closer to Home

The Annual Garden Club Lighting Contest is scheduled to take place on Tuesday evening.  Some of the lighting displays are really spectacular, but - also - there are many, many homes whose decorations are just as beautiful in the daytime.

The Gray residence in ""Dicksville" on Route 315.

Suzette's front door on Madison Street.

The Nativity Scene on the side lawn of St. Bernard's Catholic Church is in place.....

......  and Michelle and Kevin Bowen were hanging decorations on their Babbott Avenue home.

On Friday afternoon Steve Murphy found Snow Geese next to Snowden Hill Road in Paris and sent me these pictures.

Wonderful!   Thank you, Steve!

Early yesterday afternoon Sally Zweifel phoned me to tell me that there were Snow Geese in the fields behind her home in Hanover.

When I got there they were really too far away for me to take a good picture, but ........

....  as I stood watching them, along with Sally , her niece and grand-niece, all of a sudden ....

............... the geese lifted off ......

................. and took to the air, making a slow but noisy turn right over the Zweifel house before ....

....... circling back to land, again, this time closer to the road.

There must have been a thousand or so, and Yes - it was a little bit like watching "Birds"  - but not scary!

More like Magnificent!

(Thank you Sally, Fred and Geese!)
