Ms. Picolla's answer: Any and All stuffed animals!

It's Garbage Day.

 37 degrees at 5:00 a.m.

The YNN Weather Forecast:

"Remaining Breezy & Warm / Unsettled Weather Ahead

We are looking at a warm and cloudy day with a few passing showers. We will see highs across the area approaching 50!

We stay warm through most of the week with the continued chance for showers and unsettled conditions.

A big change in the weather pattern by Friday and into the weekend. There will be snow through the weekend and leading into Christmas. We will see how much we get. Stay tuned!"

IN THE MAIL

I received this E-note from Tammi Picolla, one of the Student Council Advisors at Waterville Central School.

"In response to Friday's shooting in Connecticut, we are sponsoring a Teddy Bear Drive.  We are collecting stuffed animals for the survivors of the shooting.  Any community members who would like to donate stuffed animals may drop them off at the high school.  Thank you."

Ms. Picolla says:  ALL cuddly (and clean) stuffed animals will be accepted

On Jody Hildreth's Facebook page, from which he has invited me to use photographs to post here, he wrote, "Today (Saturday) was the Annual Christmas Bird Count and I had a lot of fun trying to count the snow geese in my area. My best estimate: 60,000. Yesterday there were 140,000! I found 15 banded geese and I'm submitting them to the USFWS to see where they came from. The last one I found was from Ellesmear Island (look it up – it is where Admiral Byrd started his flight to the north pole!)"

I don't know where Jody's area was, but as he said,
"It was Snowing Geese!"

Thank you, Jody!

ALSO IN MY MAIL ....

This nice note from Katrina "Katey" Youngs Taylor~

"I’ve seen in previous posts that you asked to know who the readers are in far away places – well just an FYI – My ‘sister’ in the Czech Republic uses your blog as a way to help her learn English.  Many years ago when I was a Rotary exchange student there she couldn’t speak any English, now she is about to graduate from an English speaking school!  So thank you for the blog – it has really helped her."
Thanks a lot for writing, Katey,
and Good Luck to your "sister!"

Miscellaneous pictures

My (unofficial) "Bird Count," on Sunday afternoon, wasn't as exciting as Jody's!

First I spotted a hundred or so Canada Geese in a corn field next to Route 20 ....

..................... and then, a minute or two later, a dozen Wild Turkeys on the other side of the highway.

There were Mallard Ducks on most of the small ponds, but out at Woodman Pond, north of Hamilton, a Single Swan was swimming!

While I was counting things.........

............. at 3:00 yesterday afternoon there were only a dozen trees left!

********************

New decorations have appeared on the old barn at the Brouillette residence on Barton Avenue ......

.................... and Santa has arrived on the second floor balcony at the Mowreys' on Sanger Avenue.

Lights were lit at the Upcrafts' home on West Bacon Street.

This is the front doorway of the old Richmond Farm, out on Route 20, the home of Roger and Terry Tanner.

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

Thank you to all of you who have already sent me your Christmas Greetings. I know that at least a few of you are waiting for one from me!  Well - I believe that now,  following the horrific events in Connecticut last Friday,  I'm "changing horses in the middle of the stream" and starting from scratch on a design that is a bit more subdued and suitable than that which I'd been playing with.

More, when it happens.

Have a good day everyone!
