Sunday evening for Monday

************************

At 4:30 on Sunday afternoon it is 87 sunny degrees!

I don't know if any Watervillians have opened their swimming pools, yet, but there was quite a beach party at the Dugway in Clinton this afternoon!

The Weather Forecast from WKTV: "One more day of dry weather on Monday with mostly sunny skies in the morning. Clouds will increase during the afternoon with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm late. A better chance for showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday into Wednesday. Warm weather will prevail through much of next week."

IN THE MAIL

The annual "Ride for Missing Children" took place last Friday, and Jim Ceislak met the riders in Westmoreland. Of course the trouble was that he was in his CAR and going in the wrong direction, but he sent this snapshot, anyway!

(Thanks, Jim!)

The Waterville Garden Club's Plant Sale on Saturday morning was a great success and there were very few plants left over. Those that did not sell are still available and may be found next to Mrs. Sexton's driveway on Putnam Street.

Here and There

Flags are up!

They hang from telephone poles along Stafford Avenue, East Main Street, through the business district and out past the park on Sanger Avenue as far as the Village Limits near the Car Wash and on many residences and businesses, too.

I don't know exactly what the orange cones are doing in the Park, but they seem to mark new concrete slabs - perhaps bases for new benches?

The sun was shining on the Rhododendron in front of the Murphys' on Madison Street.....

............. and on the "Swamp Pink" next to the Coffman residence south of CVS.

It would take some work to find them, but I imagine that there are still clusters of these pretty bushes that are sometimes called "pinksters" here and there in the darkest, muddiest parts of Nine Mile Swamp.

It's not at all difficult to find this meadow of pink "Gilleyflowers," just starting to bloom in the hayfield right next to Loomis Road!
