It's Garbage Day.

56 degrees and overcast at 6:30 a.m.

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "The weather patterns turn unsettled to start out the work week as a stalled frontal boundary teams up with some moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. Mainly cloudy skies today with scattered rain showers. A rumble of thunder is possible, especially this afternoon. Highs in the upper 60s.

Clouds and rain showers tonight. A steady rain east of Utica. Lows in the mid to upper 50s.

More clouds and showers tomorrow, with highs in the low 70s.

The threat of rain still in the forecast on Wednesday as the front finally pushes east. Highs in the mid 70s. The weather dries out and cools off just a bit for Thursday."

Saturday and Sunday were two beautiful days.

Plenty of fields in Hanover were planted on Saturday.

There was hardly a cloud in the sky, late Saturday afternoon, and pre-prom pictures were being taken outdoors - some at the Bandstand in the Park; some in the Garden at the Library and, I'm sure, many taken at residences will show "stretch" limousines in the background.
Long before the evening had ended, Patty Louise had posted over fifty photographs of elegantly-dressed couples on The Waterville Times' Facebook page!

Yesterday afternoon - Mother's Day - I took a quick tour of the village and countryside.

The parking lot at "Michael's," in Sangerfield was still full!

I took the driveway to the Library just to see if anything had changed at the Observatory - yes: apparently Rotarian volunteer carpenters had installed the steel runners upon which the roof will slide - and I noticed that someone had taken time to extricate young hop vines from grassy surrounds and give them some string to help climb the poles.

The diamond at Firemen's Field was empty, but isn't that new yellow "bumper" material topping the chain-link fence?

There hasn't been any sign of the Canada Geese and their Goslings for several days, but the pond beyond Jack Prior's is dotted with bright yellow 'Bullhead Lilies."

In my Email late yesterday was this picture of Stan Sambora, taken by a friendly photographer!

(Thank You!)

Also in the mail, an E-note from a blog reader with an appreciation for history who bid on and won the postcard of Lyon's Mills, which was being auctioned off on Ebay, just to give it to the Limestone Ridge Historical Society!

(Thank You!)

FOR THE RECORD

********************

I've spent the past several days immersed in history:

--- first, answering a blog reader's query about "all the tunnels leading from the old mill on Putnam Street," and then discovering a couple of fun mystery books (acquired from Ebay and Amazon) written in the 1940's by a gentleman named Herman Petersen who was the Postmaster in Poolville and who based his stories on real people, places and events that took place right in this area!

I'll do a separate blog post about those topics later today.

Have a good day, everyone!
