The three polished granite benches that were placed in the Park a week or so ago have been given by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Waterville Fire Department in memory of Anne Dunster, a long-time member of the Auxiliary who passed away in February, 2oo5.
This bench, a tribute to Richard S. Woodman, Esq., was given by the Waterville Rotary Club and The Tower Foundation - organizations of which "Dick" had been a member for many years before his death just about a year ago, just shy of his 98th birthday.

I'm sure that they would have been among the early arrivals on Main Street. By 8:30, with at least half-an-hour to wait, watchers were already gathering.

The WCS Marching Band and other parade units began lining up near Conger Avenue soon after 8:30.

This was the last good look that I had of Main Street.
I've learned that once a parade has started the only two ways to reach the center of the village from where I live are by going either out Berrill to W. Bacon east to Elmwood / Osborn through Sangerfield and back into town on Madison Street ...
OR
............ to drive northward to Forge Hollow and take Bogan Road to Tower Street and back to the village that way.
This morning, neither plan would have worked! I missed the ceremonies, but I'm sure that The Waterville Times will have pictures!

"High Bush Cranberries," or Viburnam Trilobam, seem to be making a come-back after being decimated by the Viburnum Leaf Beetle, four or five years ago.
The Wild Carnation - or "Gilleyflower" - is spreading and large patches appear in nore and more moist meadows and ditches.
"Purple" - or "water" - Avens isn't as showy as the Gilleyflower until you look at it really close up!
