Alec Savage ran for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries and Jon Piersma passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Waterville opened the season with a Class C South victory over Clinton.
James Melvin caught a 69-yard TD pass from Piersma to open the scoring, and Jake Knutti grabbed an 86-yard scoring pass. Tanner Livengood kicked a 38-yard field goal and made all five conversion kicks for the Indians. Anthony Rice had 14 tackles and Casey Jones had seven. Sam Olsen completed seven of 11 passes for 95 yards to lead the Clinton offense, and Matt Sroka had nine tackles for the Warriors.
