It's 66 degrees and gray at 6:30

The WKTV Weather Forecast: "After a cloudy, wet  start, sunshine, cooler, and breezy weather takes hold today with highs in the mid 70s.  High pressure builds in for the remainder of the week.  Eventually, a warmup is expected again by Thursday and Friday.
We're continuing to follow Isaac as it heads into the Gulf of Mexico.  At this point, it doesn't look to affect our weather until late Sunday or Monday, if at all.  By that point, only some showers and thunderstorms will be possible.  There is also the chance that most of the rain stays to the south, across the Mid Atlantic.  We'll keep you posted."

Here & There

Quite a few of our ancient maple trees are playing host to a new crop of "Northern Toothed Fungus"which, unfortunately, are both damaging to the trees and are not edible.

Their appearance, however, means that it's time to look for "Puffballs."

Wouldn't I like to find a Giant Puffball like this, found by Lawrence Brabant of Whitesboro.  "Characterized as a Giant Puffball (Langermannia gigantea) the mushroom weighs in at 12 lbs with an approximate 57 inch circumference, just 10 inches shy of breaking the world record." (from WKTV.)

I made a point of going back to the Library to see if the "contraption" that I thought was a bean-picker actually was and Yes - a great portion of the bean field had been harvested. A huge truck waited for more beans, but the bean picker device was nowhere to be seen.

Something is happening at the observatory:  possibly a new sidewalk?

Leaving the Library and turning right onto White Street, this ladder, propped against the side of the Petrie residence, caught my eye.  I think that whoever has been climbing it would much rather be working on this new home ..........

................ being constructed on Sally Road, just east of Hanover Road.
