Hello October!

It's Garbage Day.

51 degrees, dark and drippy at 6:30.

The Weather Forecast from WKTV:  "A few leftover showers on Monday with weather beginning to quiet down and warm up starting Monday afternoon, with highs into the 70s by the middle of the week.  Next chance of rain arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday."

CONGRATULATIONS TO BRIAN STARING!

SEEN HERE at the annual Oswego Weigh-off with his personal best pumpkin weighing in at 1,117.5 pounds
"With the very hot and dry July we had, it hurt a lot of growers for getting them big and heavy. But for me, it's a hobby and I just love growing a seed less then a gram in weight and seeing how huge I can get it to grow."

"Here is my personal best 780 pound squash. As far as I know, this is the biggest squash ever grown in central New York.
There was a grower at the weigh-off from out Buffalo way that grew the New York State and American record with a 1,221 pound squash."

Hops - growing wild next to Route 20.
Oh,  for twelve foot arms!

At the corner of Barton and Putnam, in the village.
(Darn those wires!)

Beautiful foliage just North of the Village on Route 315.
(More wires!)

It rained off and on all weekend, but that didn't stop people from shopping for pumpkins at Mosher's........

........ or putting Autumn arrangements in front of their houses on Osborn Avenue and.......

Madison Street.

************************

There's a beautiful new stretch of fence right next to Madison Street on the former Woodman property.....

.......... and there are two new sections of carefully laid up stone wall just about at the top of Grant Hill.
(Perhaps this is Dave Sullivan's work?)

Have a good day, everyone!

I think it's possible that the only people who like this sort of weather are those who are out hunting for mushrooms. They probably know what they're looking for.

If  YOU happen to see an interesting sort of fungus growing on a tree or what you think might be "meadow mushrooms," please beware: Some wild mushrooms are poisonous, and they may resemble edible species. Eating them may make you sick or kill you. It is your responsibility to identify any wild food with 100% certainty before you eat it.
