The WKTV Weather Forecast: "The next weather maker will arrive in the middle of the day Thursday, bringing a mix of rain and snow. Higher elevations will likely see a slushy accumulation. Here's an early look at the snowfall forecast:

"Some lake flurries on Friday with highs in the low 30s. A weak disturbance likely brings a few more snow showers on Saturday. Another weather system will attempt to bring snow for Sunday."

Blogger's note: Whenever I hear and see shape note music being sung, I can't help but think of the first words of Psalm 100: "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord," because Shape Note is meant to be sung with completely unrestrained exuberance and joy. Visiting a "singing" isn't like going to a choral concert, recital or even a typical "hymn-sing." Whether you participate or not, it truly is "an experience"! (Here's a small audio sample, "Cold Mountain-I'm Going Home" from the film of the same name. If you think the first verse doesn't make any sense, it's because the singers always sing the NAMES of the notes - fa, sol, la, etc. - before they begin the actual verses.)

Shape notes are a music notation designed to facilitate congregational and community singing. The notation, introduced in 1801, became a popular teaching device in American singing schools. Shapes were added to the note heads in written music to help singers find pitches within major and minor scales without the use of more complex information found in key signatures on the staff.
